Cone 6 oxidation (first image): SW222 Green Jasper is a glossy, transparent white glaze that breaks over texture. It contains metallic green and blue crystals. Base colour is stable, crystals can create movement.
Cone 10 reduction (second image): Base remain unchanged. Crystals shift to a metallic red. Light application is recommended due to movement.
Wood and soda firing results will vary.
Tips:
- Green Jasper uses SW250 White Opal as the base glaze.
- Upon opening, crystals will be concentrated in the bottom of the bottle. Stir/shake thoroughly to incorporate before each use.
- Crystals can create movement. Avoid having a heavy concentration of crystals near the bottom of your piece.
- When storing a crystal glaze, you may consider storing upside down to make crystal more accessible.
- Can be used in oxidation or reduction firings. Results may vary.
- The choice of clay body, thickness of glaze application, firing process and temperature will affect the fired results. Always test in your kiln, on your clay body.
